Negrita Jayde, life partner of Gregory Hines, hosts a memorial to her late husband for friends and family at her home Saturday, Aug. 9. The event featured music, dance, food and stories of Mr. Hines.

For the last five years, Negrita Jayde has organized memorials for her late fiance, tap dancer Gregory Hines, which have turned into a celebration of his life rather than a mourning of his death.
Hines, a world renowned tap dancer, actor and singer, who graced the stage on television and movies, died in Los Angeles in 2003 from cancer. The Tony Award winner was 57.
